Sons of the Altar

Sons of the Altar is a liturgical service group for boys who have received their First Holy Communion through high school. The purpose of this group is to help young men grow in reverence for the Sacred Liturgy while serving at the altar during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Altar servers assist the priest and deacon in the sanctuary, helping the liturgy unfold with dignity, order, and beauty. Through this service, boys learn responsibility, attentiveness, and a deeper love for the Eucharist.
Serving at the altar places young men close to the sacred mysteries of the Church and invites them to grow in prayer, discipline, and devotion. It also provides an opportunity for boys to discern a possible vocation to the priesthood, while developing habits of leadership and faithful service in the Church.
Sons of the Altar helps form young men who are reverent, courageous in faith, and open to the call of God in their lives.
