Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal (Pulpit Letter)

Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal (Pulpit Letter)

My dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

With gratitude and humility, I greet you as I begin my ministry as the sixth Archbishop of Denver. Entrusted with this responsibility by Pope Leo XIV, I receive it with great love for you and deep trust in the Lord.

One truth has always guided me: everything we have is a gift from God. As Scripture reminds us, “Every perfect gift is from above.”

When we recognize this, our response is prayer and gratitude—listening to God’s will and giving back from what He has given us. The Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal is one way we live this together. It is an invitation to put our faith into action, sharing God’s gifts with others and bringing Christ’s love to those most in need.

I ask all members of our parish communities to commit to this year’s appeal. Commitment cards will be available at Mass next weekend.

I humbly ask for your prayers for our archdiocese, as you can be assured of mine for you and your families. Let us entrust this mission to our Blessed Mother, so that she may lead us closer to her Son.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend James R. Golka

Archbishop of Denver
